Deborah Morosini

Meet Deborah Morosini. New Yorker turned LA resident. Life-saving scientist turned oil painting artist and horse rider. Actual mom and dog mom. Retrouvaí Lollipop Ring lover.

What is your go-to breakfast?

As much as I would love to claim it’s a protein/adaptogenic rich smoothie, my wake-up ritual is to lie in bed after feeding/walking dogs, listening to guided meditations and drinking 1-2 cans of La Colombe triple draft latte. I travel with them. Then I usually have a shot of “Magic Mind” to cover the adaptogen part of the equation. I’ve never been a big breakfast person, so now I leverage this into an “intermittent fasting” of my own design...

What is your favorite city?

I grew up outside of NYC and still consider it home plate. I have NYR hockey season tickets which is kind of ridiculous. My younger son and extended family live there, and my favorite restaurant, King.

I tried bi-coastal life for ~ a year and it felt too unsettling to be always “leaving” so I gave up my NYC apartment have settled in here in Silverlake. I grow to adore LA more and more every day, and to see the resilience and feel the strength of community here during the ongoing devastation of the wildfires, has endeared LA even more to me.

What is your most cherished heirloom?

I love my clothes, my shoes, and my jewelry. Mrs. Prada forever. Vintage soulful pieces with their own little (or big) personalities. I curate my wardrobe based on what feels nurturing, fun, cozy and empowering.

What inspired you to pursue your career, and what do you love most about what you do?

I’m a third generation physician. The third Dr Morosini! Crazy. I had a wending path to medical school and went part time with 2 babies, so that was wild. After completing my residency in pathology I dove right into start-ups.

I’ve “grown up” within the genomics and targeted oncology treatments world and after my sister, Dana Reeve, died of lung cancer in 2006, I devoted much of my free time to patient advocacy and inclusion. I never envisioned “drug development” as a career path, but it’s enabled me to use my talents to improve access to clinical trials and great medicines and imbued my “working life” with the strong feeling of meaning and purpose. I feel so fortunate.

What’s the one piece of jewelry you never leave home without?

2 rings: vintage pommelato citrine on left middle finger and my retrouvai lollipop on right middle finger. Power up. I chose the colors of the OG lollipop ring from a scarf that belonged to my sister Dana. It’s a guiding color vision for me

Which fantasy signet’s message resonates with you the most?

Fearless and extraordinary.

The day our family dog, Snoop, died I woke up and heard a sentence and I knew it was “snoop’s enduring message." He said, “It's a beautiful day & we need to be brave." Simple and profound... as EVERY day we need to be brave. Every second. And everyday is beautiful, even the ones that feel like squirrelly fuckeroos.

What’s the last thing you bought that made you ridiculously happy?

A painting by Jenny Walton that she painted on a little Bergdorf’s shopping bag. She is one of my painting and personal inspirations
